Description

Château de Barbe Blanche, located in the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation, is a place where the word "terroir" has significant meaning. The vineyard is situated on a plateau of asteriated limestone which is typical of the Saint-Émilion region. This rock offers ideal conditions that contribute to the high quality of the wines produced here. Château de Barbe Blanche 2019 is a full-bodied wine with a mellow tannic structure, roundness, and hints of lightly toasted fruit. It is a fine, elegant wine that has good ageing potential. The wine is made up of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet franc. It has a nice dark red colour with good depth and some dark garnet reflections.
On the nose, the wine is fine and elegant, revealing a tasty mix of ripe red fruits such as cherry and strawberry, combined with a light toasty note. The wine has a beautiful amplitude on the attack which announces an equally interesting palate with a nice sweetness, well-coated tannins, fatness, and a well-balanced taste. It has all the delicacy of ripe fruit such as cherry, strawberry, blackcurrant, plum, and a hint of vanilla. The wine has a nice length and interesting ageing potential.
Château de Barbe Blanche Red 2019 will be the perfect companion for a plate of charcuterie, grilled lamb chops, or a dish in sauce with mushrooms. It should be served between 15°C and 17°C.
